How to Book a Train
A plain guide for first-time riders, from picking a route to boarding.
Step 1: Choose your route and date
Pick the cities you want to connect and a travel date. If a city has more than one station, check the stations list on the route page.
Step 2: Compare departures
Look at departure time, travel time and the train name. Daytime trains suit short trips, and overnight trains suit long ones.
Step 3: Pick your seat
Coach is the budget choice. Business, first class or a sleeper room add space and, on some trains, extras.
Step 4: Pay and get your ticket
Pay securely and keep your confirmation handy. If you need help, call (888) 885-6306.
On travel day
Arrive about 30 minutes before departure, bring photo ID, and check the departure board for your track. Check the carrier baggage rules before you pack.
